All Saints Church, Wandsworth

Internal Lighting

BEFORE

All Saints church failed an electrical test and inspection in 2004. The electrical system was deemed as being very dangerous and had to be disconnected as a matter of satiety.

Plans for rewiring and new lighting were put in hand. CES were asked to provide a performance specification for this work. The existing luminaries were a mixture of old and new which were not in keeping with the character of the building.

We looked back to old pictures of the interior of the church showing that the nave had hanging pendants from the barrel ceiling. We were very keen to make sure the new lighting blended in with the character of the church.

Flemish chandeliers and wall lights were installed along with period ceiling lights all finished in Antique English. Emergency lighting was built in to the new luminaries so not to spoil the original appearance of this wonderful church.

To maintain the chandeliers, winch systems were installed that lower the chandeliers to pew height so changing lamps is very easy.
Directional spots were installed to illuminate the Chancel/nave steps, pulpit, lectern, chancel, Sanctuary and Lady Chapel.

A pre-set modern dimming system was installed providing a number of scenes for services, functions and visitors to the church.
The lighting to the worship area is energy efficient by installing energy efficient lamps and the installation of the pre-set dimming system.
Low energy luminaries with emergency lighting were installed into the vestry areas.

New Focus Antique Bronze twin sockets installed throughout the worship area with MK twin sockets in the vestry areas.
Rewiring to boiler supply and complete rewiring to organ blower and controls were also carried out.

All Saints church is a Grade II Listed building
