The existing electrical installation at St Johns had reached the end of its life expectancy. The installation being some 40-45 years old. The lighting was a mixture of antiquated spots.

CES were asked to put a scheme together to rewire the church and provide new lighting. A number of options for the new lighting were provided, the lighting committee preferred the option of lighting the worship area from the main tie beams and wall plates leaving the interior open and spacious and not cluttered.

The new lighting scheme was discreet with a number of tiny spots placed up on the beams and wall plates projecting good levels of light into the nave, chancel, sanctuary and Lady Chapel.
Emergency lighting was introduced at high level placed on Tie beams.
The Sanctuary and Lady Chapel East windows have been backlit from outside, this is the first time the windows have ever been backlit and the results are stunning.

The existing north and south porch lanterns were traditional and very unique and matched the character of the building, rather then having bespoke lanterns we were able to completely refurbish the lanterns and put them back in place in all their glory.

A pre-set modern dimming system was installed providing a number of scenes for services, functions and visitors to the church. The east window luminaires are also controlled via the lighting system on non-dimmed circuits.
The lighting to the worship area is energy efficient by installing energy efficient lamps and the installation of the pre-set dimming system.
Low energy luminaries with emergency lighting were installed into the tower areas.

St Johns church is Grade I Listed.
